The plan

Like 5 years ago when I first came to London, everything will start over again from Gare du Nord. On the 10th June, my parents will be there, my brother will be in Africa this time. Instead of a big suitcase I’ll have a reasonably sized backpack, and surely, like last time, I will cry a little bit. OK let’s not lie, last time I cried a lot, but this time I will cry a little bit because I’m old and wise. I will hang around in London for a day, give out a few more goodbyes, and head to Heathrow in the evening.

12th June Buenos Aires. I will be welcomed by a cool guy whose sweet name is Olivier Baltus. I already like the guy. It looks very much like he is going to be the first angel of my trip. I will then make my way up to Bolivia, and Peru, taking my time I guess because the next plane I have is on the 16th August from Lima to Quito (Ecuador). 12 days to go see the turtles of Galapagos and I will fly to Santiago (Chile) on 28th August. 2nd September will be me going to the Easter Islands, back on the 6th Sep to Santiago.

And from there I fly big time to Auckland (New Zealand) on 10th September, where I spend three enchanting weeks. From New Zealand’s South Island (Christchurch) I will get to Sydney on the 3rd October. This is a hint here that it looks like I will celebrate my birthday in Australia, if anyone would like to come and deliver my birthday present. 8th October to Ayer’s Rock, 12th October out from Alice Springs to Brisbane, and after 2 weeks of making my way up the coast I will end the Australian adventure in Cairns.

Last continent. From Cairns I will fly to Tokyo on 28th October. I will love Japan, but sadly leave on the 11th November to Beijing where I will stay 10 days. On the 21st Nov I will land in Hong Kong where hopefully I will catch up with a few friends, and by that time I’ll be exhausted and happy to go to Ho Chi Minh on 27th November. I will see Vietnam, Laos, go to Cambodia again. And at that point I still had to come up with a final date for my return to London from Bangkok. So I said to Sanjay, the travel agent: can you make this one up for me please? I’m out of ideas. And Sanjay said sure, you should fly back on 15th January 2009. So that’s the plan.
